THE SIMMZY’S STORY is the STORY OF SERENDIPITY
Serendipity means a "happy accident" or "pleasant surprise"; specifically, the accident of finding something good without actually looking for it. (Interestingly, the word has been voted one of the ten hardest words to translate in the English language.)

OUR HAPPY ACCIDENT
Mike and Anne originally partnered in 2007 to develop Tin Roof Bistro in Manhattan Beach. It took a while to get permitted to build the restaurant. So they created and tried out the menu. Tried it again. And again. They were super excited about their burger. But they waited. Then waited some more. They had planned everything about the restaurant to the “T”, from the design to the menu to the wine list, BUT they were dead in the water with delays.
At about the same time, Mike’s older brother, Chris had just moved into the neighborhood. Mike and Chris hadn’t live this close to each other since school. Just picture the scene from Dumb and Dumber when Lloyd and Harry head out on the town in their orange and blue tuxes. It’s two fast friends making up for some serious lost time!
So this is what happened. There are several versions:
1) Mike had so much time on his hands that he was brewing beer in his garage, and generally making a huge mess. By this time, not surprisingly, his wife was getting annoyed with him. He decided that in order to keep the peace, he needed to take the “man cave” somewhere else. Thusly, Simmzy’s was born!
2) Mike said to Chris, “We need a simple, but delicious craft beer bar that we can walk to! But it also has to have great wine and great food so our wives will want to join us every once and a while. It’s got to be the kind of place that we would want to hang out in all the time.” Thusly, Simmzy’s was born!
3) Anne said, “I’m going out of my tree with boredom! I’d do anything. I’d flip burgers in a greasy diner if I had to!” A week later, Mike asked Anne to meet him at 229 Manhattan Beach Blvd., and pointed at a dilapidated little restaurant that had seen better days. He said, “Here’s your burger joint.” Thusly, Simmzy’s was born!

“Thanks to the Simmzy’s team for making it what it continues to be to this very day: my favorite place to hang out!” Mike
